Our core investments are long term, sometimes illiquid, and strategic selections.
Investing with 7Summit: Our Process
At 7Summit, we believe that investing success begins with an in-depth discussion in which we learn about your goals and objectives. Following those discussions, we develop a personal investment policy and create and manage a portfolio based on that policy.
Integral to our process, is a financial plan to help execute the investment policy. The financial plan is a review and documentation of a client’s current and future financial state using known variables to predict cash flow, asset values and withdrawal plans.
Portfolios are then constructed to meet these goals and managed according to the risk parity approach. We focus on allocating risk, or the degree of volatility, not allocating capital. The approach results in a portfolio of assets that is designed to limit downside during a range of probable economic scenarios. Fixed income is leveraged and long duration. Equity allocation is smaller, and we further manage risk by averaging into absolute value positions.
In general, we invest in the public stock and bond markets. Our investment recommendations are not limited to any specific product or service offered by a broker-dealer and will generally include advice regarding the following securities:
- Exchange-listed securities
- Foreign issuers
- Corporate debt securities
- Municipal securities
- Mutual fund shares
- United States governmental securities
- Options contracts on securities
Your account is monitored continuously. We look for any changes in the status of underlying investments and test our investment outlook against changing conditions, adding vehicles with greater potential.
We are pleased to talk with you about our findings whenever you want, and we will reach out to you quarterly to discuss any changes in thinking, as well as to review your performance. We meet with you annually at a minimum, in order to revisit the status of the market and the changes in your life and to evaluate any need for a shift in strategy.
Our thinking at 7Summit is that we do the work of managing investments and portfolio construction, and rely on your input for customizing and updating your financial plan as needed. This proven process has helped guide our clients to their personal summits and beyond.
